18, 2002 - RAMNICU VALCEA
A new ignition solid fuel was chosen today for the liquid
fuel engine of the ORIZONT technological demonstrator. This new fuel,
with a slow burning rate is made of ammonium nitrate, ammonium dichromate
and polyester and will replace black powder previously used. A small
team has been working with solid fuels since December 13, 2002.

18, 2002 - ST. LOUIS
In their turn, X Prize Foundation officials signed the Master Team Agreement
with ARCA.

10, 2002 - RAMNICU VALCEA
The board of ARCA discussed the Master Team Agreement proposed by X
Prize Foundation and fully agreed with the terms. This final set of
rules was signed by ARCA’s Chairman, Mr. Dumitru Popescu and sent
to the X PRIZE Foundation.

5, 2002 - PLOIESTI
Dumitru Popescu and Andrei Comanceanu were in Ploiesti at a law college
in sign of appreciation for Ms. Pr. Dr. Aurelia Parlogea, who sponsored
ARCA for the X Prize Competition. Popescu and Comanceanu informed the
students about ORIZONT rocket and about the entire program.

16, 2002 - HOUSTON
At the World Space Congress in Houston,the newest entrants
into the X PRIZE Competition were announced: ARCA from Ramnicu Valcea
- Romania and Armadilo Aerospace from Texas - USA. Dr. Peter H. Diamandis,
Chairman and Founder of the X PRIZE, welcomed the newest entrants into
the competition at a press conference at the World Space Congress in
Houston, TX. Joining Diamandis at the announcement were John Carmack
and his six-member Armadillo team, Pablo De Leon, X PRIZE competitor
from Argentina, Dr. Dumitru-Dorin Pruanriu, President of the Romanian
Space Agency, and Ms. Anousheh Ansari, newly-elected X PRIZE Trustee,
Benefactor and business executive from Dallas, TX. “The X PRIZE
Competition was created to attract the best and brightest of today’s
aerospace engineers to develop private spaceships for space tourism,”
explained Diamandis. The acceptance of Romania into the competition
was the most important event until May 14, 1981 when Soyuz 40 was launched
with the first romanian cosmonaut on board.

7-12, 2002 - BUCHAREST
At the invitation of Education and Research Ministry, ARCA participated
at the Bucharest International Fair - TIB. More than 6,000 people visited
ARCA's Stand.

21, 2002 - BUCHAREST
Romanian National Television helped ARCA to raise funds for its Technological
Demonstrator of the ORIZONT vehicle in a TV show “Surprize, Surprize”
(Surprises, Surprises). This initiative was a success.

18, 2002 - RAMNICU VALCEA
The Prefecture and the County Council of Valcea organized a meeting
between ARCA’s Chairman Mr. Dumitru Popescu and businessmen from
Ramnicu Valcea, in order to raise funds for the participation of ARCA
to the X PRIZE Competition. The initiative was a success.
August
30-31, 2002- RAMNICU VALCEA
For the first time, the technological demonstrator of the ORIZONT vehicle
was publicly presented. Then, was also presented a liquid fueled rocket
engine and an electronic command panel for the engine. On August 30,
the engine was started for three times.
