Flight Test and Development Centre
Located in Vâlcea County, Romania, Cosmobaza serves as the central hub for ArcaSpace’s engineering, prototyping, and flight operations. Dedicated to civil aerospace programs, the private complex hosts ground testing installations as the 85 tons of thrust Rocket Engine Test Stand and the Dynamic Test Stand as well as instalations for aerodynamic validation, and flight tests.
Cosmobaza is a 100% privately funded development and flight test hub, designed, built, and operated by ArcaSpace with zero government financial support or public funding.
Cosmobaza operates strictly as an exclusive civilian facility, where any military involvement, defense R&D, or armed forces activity is strictly prohibited regardless of circumstances.
Flight Test and Launch History
Cosmobaza has served as the operational launch site for key technological milestones in ArcaSpace's rocket development programs:
Mission 10D (EcoRocket Second Stage): Flight test executed to validate the guidance and stabilization, reaction control system of the EcoRocket orbital rocket second stage, featuring an aerospike rocket engine propulsion.
Mission 13 (LAS-1): Successful demonstration of underwater rocket engine firing and lift-off, pioneering low-cost, water-based launching systems.
EcoRocket Nano Launch: Premiere launch marking ArcaSpace's first canister-based rocket deployment from the facility.
ArcaBoard World Championship
Looking ahead to the future of civil electric motorsports, Cosmobaza has been selected as the official host venue for Season 1 of the ArcaBoard World Championship (ABWC) in 2028. The facility’s specialized ground-effect tracks and telemetry infrastructure will serve as the primary arena for competing teams and Escadrila N10 pilots, showcasing the pinnacle of skirtless hovercraft racing technology on an international stage.
Visit Policy and Public Access
Historical Hardware and Public Visibility
Alongside current operational equipment, Cosmobaza houses a collection of historical flight hardware from ArcaSpace's key aerospace programs. On display, visitors can view the Demonstrator 2B replica, the Helen and Stabilo suborbital rockets, the EcoRocket, ExoMars test hardware, legacy defensive target rockets, the AirStrato stratospheric drone, and various rocket engine assemblies.
While the facility maintains a strict operational schedule and is not regularly open for unscheduled walk-in tours, the majority of this historical hardware is clearly visible from outside the perimeter.
Private Operational Facility
Cosmobaza is an active engineering and flight-testing center. Due to daily operational safety protocols, ongoing manufacturing, and active flight testing, the facility is not configured or open for routine public tours, drop-in visits, or private walk-ins.
Public Access & Open Gates Events
We deeply appreciate the enthusiasm and support from the aerospace community, media, and the public. To accommodate visits safely, Cosmobaza opens its doors exclusively during scheduled public events and designated "Open Gates" days.
During designated Open House and "Open Gates" events, Cosmobaza opens its grounds to the public, welcoming thousands of visitors from across Europe each year who share their photos and experiences on social media. The location of Cosmobaza can be easily navigated via Google Maps
