The ArcaBoard World Championship (ABWC) continues to weave the technological forefront of ground-effect vehicles with the historical legacy of space exploration. The architectural concept of the Cosmobaza circuit—suggestively named "12 Apogee"—was created as a tribute to the most prominent figures in space history, with the turn sequence of T4 - Dumitru Dediu and T5 - John Glenn forming the fastest section of the track.

The architectural concept of the Cosmobaza circuit—suggestively named "12 Apogee"—was created as a tribute to the most prominent figures in space history, with the turn sequence of T4 - Dumitru Dediu and T5 - John Glenn forming the fastest section of the track.

Turn 4 "Dumitru Dediu" - Aerospace Rigor at Extreme Speeds

Turn 4 is the beating heart of the circuit: a high-speed bend where ArcaBoard 2 pilots enter at full throttle, riding a cushion of air generated by electric EDF compressors just centimeters above the ground.

At Turn 4, dynamic stability and resistance to centrifugal forces are pushed to the physical limit, demanding a level of self-control worthy of a space program.

Dumitru Dediu: A Symbol of Determination in Space Exploration

Naming this critical section after Dumitru Dediu, an Air Force aviation engineer who underwent the intensive training program for the 1981 Soyuz 40 mission—serves to bring back to the memory of millions of Romanians the dedication and efforts of Romania's forgotten cosmonaut.

Dumitru Dediu completed rigorous training as part of the Intercosmos space program at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City.

Every section of the '12 Apogee' circuit is a tribute to the great figures of space exploration. Turn 4 is a high-speed curve where there is no room for hesitation. Naming this turn 'Dumitru Dediu' is an act of gratitude toward a man who was ready at a moment's notice to reach the cosmic apogee and who embodies the spirit of sacrifice and rigor found in aviation and cosmonautics.

A Clear Message for the Grid

Carrying his name through the fastest turn of the circuit delivers a strong message to the new generation of pilots in Squadron N10: track performance is achieved only through iron discipline, cold strategy, and a deep understanding of flight dynamics.
