On this day, September 27, in 2007, ArcaSpace launched Mission 2 from the shore of the Black Sea.

A solar balloon built by ArcaSpace lifted the Stabilo rocket into the stratosphere. The rocket then splashed down in the Black Sea under its parachute, and was recovered by a ship.

The balloon program aimed to create the capability to launch rockets from balloons at high altitudes, enabling the rockets to be smaller and lighter.

Mission 2, recorded by Swiss cinematographers Christian Frei and Peter Indergand, was the first ArcaSpace mission recorded in full HD quality.

Some of the footage was recorded with the Sony F900 camera used to film Star Wars: Attack of the Clones.

ArcaSpace was granted the right to use the footage, but Christian Frei and Peter Indergand own the footage.
