Historical Archives, Part 22 - The largest Romanian drone taxis for the first time
February 14, 2014 - The AirStrato, High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) Drone, Prototype 1, during taxiing tests at ArcaSpace.
The drone was extremely advanced for its time and even by today's standards, featuring:
- satellite connectivity for flight control and telemetry in real time with algorithms to compensate for network delays;
- redundant 500km range radio flight control and telemetry;
- automatic navigation;
- high speed, wide band, data link between drones;
- 4k 500mbps resolution gimbal stabilised camera pods;
- HD, IRST gimbal stabilised cameras;
- real time satellite video broadcast;
- virtually unlimited airborne capabilities due to its solar cells and batteries needed to power the electric motors.
The footage was filmed with a Canon 5D II and HF200 in full HD. The full HD footage was upscaled to 4K.
